Course Objectives

Basic rules of microbiology, characteristics of microbiological organisms, infection formation, studies for the production and detection of microbiological organisms and microbiological diseases

Course Content

History, development, and basic concepts of microbiology; Laboratory safety rules and working procedures; General instruments, equipment, and microscopes used in microbiology; Classification and general characteristics of microorganisms; Structure, reproduction, and metabolism of bacteria; Bacterial genetics and antimicrobial agents; Infection and routes of transmission, sterilization and disinfection; Culture media used for growing microorganisms, stains and staining techniques; General information about staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci, bacilli, and fungi; General information about viruses and some important viral diseases; Normal flora and sample collection techniques; Introduction to immunology and antigen–antibody reactions; Microbiological diagnostic methods, infectious diseases, microorganisms that may prevent these diseases, and methods of protection from these microorganisms, as well as sterilization and disinfection methods.
