Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide students with the fundamental mechanisms of diseases at the cellular and tissue levels. Within the scope of the course, the etiology, pathogenesis, and morphological features of basic pathological processes—such as cellular injury, adaptation, inflammation, tissue repair, hemodynamic disorders, and neoplasia—are examined, aiming to foster an understanding of the underlying pathophysiological rationale of clinical diseases.

Course Content

The course covers the definition and history of pathology, as well as disease pathogenesis and etiology; the cell in health and disease; cellular injury, cell death, and adaptations; inflammation and repair mechanisms; an introduction to the immune system and immunological disorders; hemodynamic disturbances; cancer and neoplasia; and the operational characteristics and workflow of a pathology laboratory.
