Course Objectives

The course aims to provide a critical approach to the students after acquiring them with the fundamental knowledge about the history of architecture from the medieval period up to the 19th century. By analysing the formal, spatial and environmental aspects of architectural structures, raising awareness about the development of architectural thoughts and practices is aimed within the course.

Course Content

A thematic study on the history of architecture based on some underlying themes, subjects and issues in the history of architectural thought and production. By means of lectures, reading comparative case studies, the students are expected to develop an understanding of the complexities of continuity and progress in the history of architectural discourse in relation to its both intellectual and practical appearances within the global history of civilization.
