Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to establish the fundamental mathematical and geometric foundation that Construction Technology students will need in on-site and office environments (such as quantity surveying, cost estimation, statics, topography, and insulation calculations)

Course Content

This course covers the teaching of fundamental mathematical concepts, number sets, equation solving, and ratio-proportion principles by associating them with construction technology applications (scaling, tolerances, and material wastage). Mathematical problems (labor, time, percentage, and profit-loss problems) are integrated into site management, man-hour planning, progress billing, and quantity surveying and cost estimation processes. Furthermore, the course includes fundamental geometry topics such as triangles, polygons, and solid figures to develop spatial awareness, laying the groundwork for 3D modeling principles. These geometric concepts are applied to topography, earthwork (cubage) calculations, and surface area/volume calculations in compliance with energy efficiency and thermal insulation standards for buildings. Throughout the course, the focus is on enhancing students' analytical thinking, multifaceted problem-solving through professional scenarios, and advanced mathematical reasoning skills
