Course Objectives

To provide students with fundamental knowledge of the functioning and organization of the reanimation unit and to develop their basic knowledge and practical skills related to the monitoring, care, and treatment of critically ill patients

Course Content

General information about reanimation and work organization in the reanimation unit; prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections; asepsis and antisepsis; sterilization and disinfection; use of personal protective equipment and principles of aseptic practice; patient monitoring and transfer in the reanimation unit; assessment and monitoring of vital signs; aspiration; medication preparation and administration procedures; venous, arterial, and capillary blood sampling; intravenous fluid infusion; blood and blood product transfusion; cannula and catheter care; stoma and endotracheal tube care; oral, hair, and body care; enteral and parenteral nutrition; medical waste management.

Learning Outcomes

LO2 Applies the principles of infection control, aseptic practices, use of personal protective equipment, and medical waste management in the reanimation unit.
LO3 Assesses the vital signs of critically ill patients, performs patient monitoring, and applies the principles of safe patient transfer.
LO4 Performs basic procedures related to aspiration, medication administration, blood sampling, intravenous fluid administration, and transfusion of blood and blood products.
LO5 Performs basic care practices related to cannulas, catheters, stomas, and endotracheal tubes, as well as personal care and enteral and parenteral nutrition in critically ill patients.
