Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to enable students to acquire the skills necessary to perform basic leveling field surveys for the accurate determination of elevations, to calculate adjusted elevations for control points using survey data, and to evaluate relative accuracy levels. Additionally, the course aims to equip students with the ability to apply corrections and adjustments arising from coordinate system data, as well as distance and angle measurements, from an engineering perspective.
Course Content
The course content covers the fundamental concepts of surveying, surveying instruments, and field surveying methods. Leveling, distance and angle measurements, the basic elements of a map, and the calculations and corrections used in topographic map production are introduced. Furthermore, coordinate systems, the concept of datum, and current data collection techniques are evaluated from the perspective of rapid spatial data production and querying for engineering projects.

Academic Integrity and Artificial Intelligence
These are significant violations for which sanctions range from disciplinary probation to failure in the specific work submitted and disciplinary probation. These violations of academic integrity may occur because of ignorance or inexperience on the part of the individual(s) committing the violation and involve a minor part of the credit awarded in the course. Examples may include:a. Copying homework assignment(s) and submitting same for credit.b. Failure to properly acknowledge or document references on submitted work which represents a minor part of the credits to be awarded in the course.c. Giving or receiving unfair aid in the completion of an assignment.d. Copying the field/laboratory projects, falsely reporting, or tampering with data.e. Altering any work after it had been graded, and re-submitting it for further credit.f. Cheating on an examination (premeditated or not premeditated).g. Permitting another student to copy work during an examination.h. Using material prohibited from the examination.i. Failing to acknowledge that the work submitted for credit is the work of collaboration.j. Submission of the same work for more than one course without the permission of the instructor.
