Course Objectives

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of cognitive psychology. The primary objective is to help students understand how the human mind operates as an information-processing system; specifically, how information is perceived, stored, and transformed into complex thought. The course covers foundational history and moves through high-level cognitive processes including memory, problem-solving, language, and reasoning.

Course Content

This course explores human cognition within the framework of the "information-processing" paradigm. Following a review of the historical development and neuroscientific foundations of cognitive psychology, students will examine fundamental mental processes—including visual perception, attentional mechanisms, short and long-term memory systems, language, decision-making, and reasoning—in light of experimental findings.
