Basic Information
Course Name:
Building Construction Project
Language of Instruction:
English
Instructor:
Dr. Öğr. Üyesi OYA BABACAN
Course Objectives
Within the scope of the Construction Project course, the primary objective is to ensure that students develop the ability to translate conceptual design decisions into technically coherent and integrated project outputs. In this context, students are expected to make structural system decisions in line with the preliminary design and present them through appropriately scaled two-dimensional drawings; to select and integrate building elements and materials with the structural system and represent them accordingly; to determine façade systems and materials and communicate these through both two- and three-dimensional representation techniques; and to resolve system junctions and integration details through two-dimensional drawings. Furthermore, the course emphasizes making project-appropriate decisions regarding subsystems.
Course Content
The course content is designed to facilitate the transition from preliminary to application-level architectural projects by enabling students to address both technical and design decisions in an integrated manner. It focuses on the development of structural, material, façade, and subsystem decisions, as well as their representation through appropriate scales and techniques. Emphasis is placed on synthesizing project decisions with regulatory frameworks and sectoral knowledge, resolving system integrations and junctions, and expressing these through detailed drawings and representations. Supported by seminars, workshops, and applied design tasks, the course aims to equip students with the capacity to respond effectively to professional requirements, ensuring that design intentions are translated into comprehensive application-level outputs that meet both technical and architectural standards.
