Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to enable students to analyze firm behavior and strategic decision-making under different market structures within the framework of advanced microeconomic theory. The course aims to develop theoretical and analytical skills related to monopoly, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, game theory, factor markets, general equilibrium, welfare economics, externalities, public goods, and asymmetric information.

Course Content

Monopoly and monopoly pricing; price discrimination; monopolistic competition; oligopoly markets; Cournot, Bertrand, and Stackelberg models; strategic behavior and fundamentals of game theory; Nash equilibrium; factor markets; demand for labor and capital; general equilibrium analysis; economic efficiency and welfare economics; market failures; externalities; public goods; decision-making under uncertainty; asymmetric information, adverse selection, and moral hazard.
