Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide students with the fundamental concepts and analytical tools of microeconomic theory and enable them to explain the economic decision-making processes of consumers and firms and analyze the functioning of market mechanisms. The course focuses on consumer preferences, utility maximization, demand, production technology, costs, profit maximization, and firm behavior in perfectly competitive markets.

Course Content

Fundamental concepts of microeconomic analysis; supply, demand, and market equilibrium; consumer preferences and budget constraints; utility maximization; individual and market demand; income and substitution effects; production theory and technology; production in the short run and long run; cost theory; cost minimization; profit maximization; firm and industry supply; short-run and long-run equilibrium in perfectly competitive markets; and welfare analysis.
