Course Objectives

The aim of this course is; To know the concepts related to psychology, to comprehend the functioning of human behaviour, thoughts and emotions and to gain the competence to use the concepts learned about psychology in the profession.

Course Content

This course includes a general understanding of basic psychological perspectives such as psychoanalytic, behavioral, cognitive, and humanistic perspectives, learning the biological basis of behavior, and gaining knowledge on topics such as sensation, perception, learning, memory, cognition, and personality.

Learning Outcomes

LO1	To be able to explain the historical process of psychology, the development of the science of psychology, its aims and related concepts, and to analyze the relationships and differences of these concepts with each other.
LO2	Questions and evaluates observations about people in the context of learning, memory, cognitive processes, motivation and emotions.
LO3	Acquire the ability to detect, define, formulate and solve basic problems related to people's mental and emotional processes and behavior.
LO4	To be able to explain learning, development and personality theories and research methods with their findings
LO5	To be able to explain the historical and philosophical development of psychology, basic concepts, theory and application schools, and basic theory and application areas of sub-branches such as clinical, experimental, social, developmental, industrial, health, traffic and educational psychology.
