Course Objectives

In terms of medical imaging, nuclear medicine is a specialty that is used to diagnose diseases and treat some diseases. Nuclear medicine allows easier procedures that can be performed with surgery or more expensive and invasive diagnostic tests. It allows some disease processes to be recognized at an early stage. Diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures indicate the cause, structure and course of the disease. It is used to monitor the progression or regression of the disease or to monitor the response to treatment. Diagnostic nuclear medicine studies show anatomy and/or function or physiology and metabolism. The most important feature of nuclear medicine studies is that they show function, physiology and metabolism

Course Content

This course covers the basics of general nuclear medicine. Sub-topics such as radiopharmacy, gamma camera working principle, bone density and measurement applications, PET/CT, SPEC/CT form the basis of this course
