Course Objectives
Classification of surgery, basic theoretical concepts of surgery, teaching the reaction of the human body to surgical intervention.
Course Content
Introduction to Surgery (History of Surgery, Conditions Requiring Surgery, Classification of Surgery, Effect of Surgery on the Patient), Basic Theoretical Concepts in Surgery (homeostasis, pain, anxiety, surgical asepsis), Body's Responses to Trauma (Inflammation, Wound/types of wounds, Incision/types of incisions, Wound healing, Factors affecting wound healing), Preoperative Period, Intraoperative Period, Postoperative Period, Gastrointestinal System (GIS) Surgical Diseases and Surgical Treatment, Breast Diseases and Surgical Treatment, Endocrine Diseases and Surgical Treatment, Tissue and Organ Transplantation, Musculoskeletal System Diseases and Surgical Treatment, Musculoskeletal System Diseases and Surgical Treatment 2, Nervous System Diseases and Surgical Treatment.
