About the Program
The Department of Business Administration at ABU is dedicated to training highly qualified managers for the world of business. The primary aim is to equip students in terms of theory and practice, enabling them to respond to the constantly changing needs of the business world. Students will also acquire the best possible knowledge about information technologies, as well as be able not only to manage personal brands but also to operate within corporate culture.The faculty members at the College of Business have attained their postgraduate degrees from leading universities throughout the world. They have extensive experience in both the international private sector and in academia. The medium of instruction is English, thus enabling our graduates to keep abreast of current trends and to follow publications in the global business climate. Students are also able to carry out administrative tasks in different cultures and nations.Our Education Purposes:PEO 1: Specialist Roles in Business FunctionsOur graduates work as specialists in business functions such as finance, marketing, and human resources within the private or public sectors.PEO 2: Academic Career and Graduate StudiesOur graduates pursue graduate studies at reputable universities and advance in their academic careers.PEO 3: Entrepreneurship and Family Business ManagementOur graduates establish their own businesses as entrepreneurs or take on managerial roles in their family businesses.PEO 4: Executive Leadership and Career AdvancementOur graduates advance to mid-level and senior management positions in their professional careers.
Admission and Registration Requirements
The students are accepted with the EA score determined for the Business Administration within the scope of the university entrance examination organized by OSYM every year. In accordance with the 5th article of the Regulation on the Undergraduate and Graduate Education and Training of the University, in order to make final registration, one these conditions must be fulfilled: as a result of the central placement exams organized by OSYM, the student must be placed in a diploma program of the university; the student must be successful in the special talent examination; or students’ horizontal transfer application must be accepted. For the acceptance and registration of international students, the principles determined by the Council of Higher Education and the Senate shall be applied within the framework of the provisions of the relevant legislation.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to our department through central placement examinations conducted by ÖSYM, the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), inter-institutional horizontal transfer based on academic merit (both domestic and international), intra-institutional horizontal transfer based on academic merit, and horizontal transfer via central placement scores (Annex-1).Students who are admitted may request the recognition and transfer of credits for courses successfully completed in their previous undergraduate or associate degree programs prior to formal registration. This request must be submitted via a formal petition to the Office of the Dean at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will commence their studies at the Faculty—following the completion of the English Preparatory School, if applicable. The student must attach the original copy of an official, certified transcript to their petition.The adaptation and credit transfer process is carried out in accordance with the principles established by the departmental commission. During this process, course descriptions, syllabi, and ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) workloads are strictly taken into consideration. In the evaluation of adaptation requests from students admitted through international inter-institutional horizontal transfer, the primary criterion is the alignment of the courses taken domestically or abroad with the program competencies defined in accordance with the national qualifications in the relevant field.
Program Educational Objectives
Graduates will pursue successful careers in the global business environment by analyzing complex managerial problems, contributing to strategic decision-making processes, and assuming leadership roles guided by ethical principles. Graduates will effectively communicate in international business settings using their English language proficiency, work harmoniously within multicultural teams, and swiftly adapt to the dynamic shifts in global markets. Graduates will utilize data-driven analytical methods and contemporary business technologies to develop innovative solutions that enhance corporate efficiency and manage business processes with an entrepreneurial vision. Graduates will prioritize social responsibility, sustainability, and professional ethical values in all managerial activities, creating sustainable value for both society and the environment. Graduates will maintain continuous professional growth by tracking sectoral trends and update their academic and professional competencies through postgraduate studies or international certification programs.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
At our University, examinations consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are conducted according to the schedule prepared and announced by our faculty. The presentation of student identification cards is mandatory to enter the exams. Our university does not implement resit (makeup) exams; however, a summer school program is available.A midterm exam is an assessment conducted during the semester in which a course in our faculty's undergraduate curriculum is offered. At least one midterm exam is held for each course per semester; alternatively, assignments, projects, and similar works performed during the course may be used in place of a midterm exam at the discretion of the course instructor. The final exam, on the other hand, is the examination conducted within the dates specified in the academic calendar at the end of the semester in which the course is taught. To be eligible to take final exams, a mandatory attendance of 70% must be completed.The academic standing of our students is determined at the end of each semester by calculating their grade point averages. Starting from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00 and above are considered successful, while students with a GPA of 1.99 and below are considered academically insufficient. Students who fail a course included in the program curriculum are required to retake that course in the first semester it is offered. Even if all other graduation requirements are met, a student cannot qualify for graduation until the failed courses are successfully completed.The grade intervals determined for students to be considered successful in a course are as follows:

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with Article 40 of the University’s Undergraduate and Associate Degree Education and Examination Regulations, students who are determined to have successfully completed all courses within the departmental curriculum, maintained a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00, and attained a minimum total of 240 ECTS credits (consisting of 220 ECTS from the departmental curriculum and 20 ECTS from non-departmental elective courses) shall be entitled to receive an undergraduate diploma from our department.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Upon being entitled to receive an undergraduate degree, graduates of the Department of Business Administration may pursue postgraduate education, provided they meet the specific requirements established by the respective graduate schools (institutes). These requirements typically include attaining the designated cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA), demonstrating the required foreign language proficiency, and successfully completing the ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) or other equivalent standardized examinations.Currently, our Graduate School of Social Sciences actively offers a Non-Thesis Master’s Program in Business Administration, and a Master’s Program with Thesis is scheduled to be launched. Furthermore, several of our students have been awarded scholarships for admission to doctoral and master’s programs abroad. To support these academic aspirations, our faculty members provide comprehensive guidance and academic counseling services for students seeking international graduate opportunities.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Upon graduation, our students are equipped to assume various roles in all types of business enterprises and possess the potential to advance into executive management positions. They are qualified to work in functional areas such as marketing, international trade, accounting, and human resources. Furthermore, by fulfilling the requisite examinations and procedures mandated by relevant authorities, our graduates may pursue professional careers as customs consultants or certified public accountants. They are also eligible to serve as civil servants in public institutions that require a degree from a Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, provided they succeed in the competitive state examinations.Graduates of our Business Administration department are capable of operating across all sectors and business fields, performing the essential functions necessary for the sustainability of an organization. They may also pursue entrepreneurship by establishing their own ventures. Moreover, utilizing the knowledge and experience gained from our research-oriented courses, those who aspire to become academicians may continue their education through postgraduate programs.
