About the Program
The PhD Program in Business Administration aims to educate graduates who seek to conduct scientific research at both national and international levels in the field of business, while also aspiring to hold senior managerial positions in companies and strengthen their theoretical knowledge in this context. In addition, the program seeks to provide the necessary theoretical foundation for prospective academics considering an academic career and to promote the advancement of scientific research activities at both national and international levels.
Admission and Registration Requirements
To apply for the PhD program, candidates must hold a thesis-based master’s degree and obtain an ALES score determined by the relevant Senate decision, provided that it is not less than 55 in the score type required for the program they are applying to.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Candidates who gain the right to enroll may, during final registration, request credit and grade transfer for courses they have successfully completed at a previously attended higher education institution. Such requests are evaluated and decided by the relevant Department Chair, must cover the entirety of the student’s graduate studies, and can be submitted only once.
Program Educational Objectives
The PhD Program in Business Administration aims to educate individuals who possess advanced theoretical and methodological knowledge in the field of business, are capable of conducting original scientific research at both national and international levels, and demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills. The program seeks to enable students to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to complex business problems, contribute to the creation of scientific knowledge, and effectively present their findings in academic and professional environments. Furthermore, the program aims to cultivate graduates who are committed to ethical values, adopt an interdisciplinary perspective, and are well-equipped to succeed in both academic careers and senior managerial positions.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
The examinations and assessment methods applied for each course are defined in the course’s ECTS form.A+: Grade awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding performance in the course.FX: Grade awarded to students who fail to meet attendance requirements or fulfill the course requirements. This grade is treated as an “F” in GPA calculations.W: Grade awarded to students who withdraw from a course with the approval of their advisor. The course appears on the transcript but is not included in GPA or credit calculations.I: Grade awarded to students who are unable to complete their requirements for courses based on projects, theses, or similar work by the end of the term, provided that their reasons are deemed valid by the relevant instructor.EX: Grade awarded to students who pass exemption examinations organized by the relevant departments for courses determined by the Senate. This grade is not included in GPA calculations but is counted toward the total credits required for graduation.U: Grade given for internships, practical work, or courses that are not included in GPA calculations.P: Grade awarded at the end of the first term for courses lasting longer than one semester. This grade is not included in GPA calculations.AU: Grade awarded to students who successfully complete courses taken without credit, with the written permission of the instructor. If the student fails to meet the course requirements, the course is considered as not taken. This grade is not included in GPA or credit calculations.

Graduation Requirements
The PhD program consists of at least 240 ECTS credits, including a minimum of 21 credits and at least 7 courses (not less than 60 ECTS per semester), as well as a seminar, a qualifying examination, a dissertation proposal, and a dissertation, for students admitted with a thesis-based master’s degree. The dissertation to be prepared at the end of the PhD study must fulfill at least one of the following criteria: contribute novelty to science, develop a new scientific method, or apply an existing method to a new field.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
They may apply to postdoctoral programs.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the program may work as academics in business-related institutions and organizations in both the private and public sectors, or take on managerial roles at middle and senior levels.
