About the Program
The Oral and Dental Health Program, offered within the Vocational School of Health Services at Antalya Bilim University, is a two-year associate degree program aimed at educating qualified oral and dental health technicians who will assist in dental healthcare services. Within the program, students receive both theoretical and practical education in areas such as oral and dental anatomy, dental materials, infection control, dental radiology, clinical practices, and patient care.The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to assist dentists in dental clinics. Throughout their education, students gain practical experience in sterilization procedures, patient preparation, the use of dental instruments and equipment, clinical organization, and patient communication.Graduates of the program can work as oral and dental health technicians in public and private dental hospitals, oral and dental health centers, and private dental clinics.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the Oral and Dental Health Program by making their preferences based on the TYT score type within the scope of the university entrance examinations organized annually by ÖSYM, taking into account the base scores of the previous year.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to our Oral and Dental Health Program through central placement conducted by ÖSYM, as well as through inter-institutional transfers based on academic achievement between domestic and international institutions, inter-institutional transfers based on central placement scores, and intra-institutional transfers.Students admitted to the Oral and Dental Health Program may request the adaptation (transfer/recognition) of the courses they have successfully completed in the undergraduate or associate degree programs in which they were previously enrolled to the curriculum of our program before completing their registration.This request must be submitted through a petition to the Vocational School of Health Services at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will begin their studies. The student must attach the original copy of an approved transcript to the petition.The adaptation (course recognition) process is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Vocational School of Health Services Administrative Board and the commissions appointed by the board. During the adaptation process, course contents and ECTS workload are taken into consideration.
Program Educational Objectives
The aim of the Oral and Dental Health Program is to educate qualified oral and dental health technicians who possess the fundamental professional knowledge and skills required to work in dental healthcare services. The program aims to enable students to apply infection control, sterilization, patient preparation, and the use of dental equipment in dental clinics in accordance with ethical and professional standards. In addition, the program seeks to train healthcare professionals who are open to professional development, possess strong communication skills, are able to work effectively in teams, and prioritize patient safety. Furthermore, the program aims to provide students with the academic foundation necessary to follow current developments in healthcare services and to continue their education at the undergraduate level when needed.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
At our university, examinations consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are conducted according to the schedule prepared and announced by the Vocational School of Health Services. Students are required to present their student identification cards in order to take examinations. There is no resit (make-up) examination system at our university; however, a summer school program is available.The midterm exam is conducted during the semester in which the course is offered in the associate degree curriculum of the Vocational School of Health Services. Each course has at least one midterm exam per semester. Assignments, projects, and similar coursework conducted during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be used in place of a midterm exam.The final exam is conducted at the end of the semester during the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students must have completed at least 70% attendance in the course.Students’ academic performance is evaluated by calculating their grade point averages at the end of each semester. Starting from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above are considered academically successful, while those with a CGPA of 1.99 or below are considered academically insufficient.Students who fail a course included in the program curriculum are required to retake the course in the first semester in which it is offered. Even if all other graduation requirements are fulfilled, a student cannot graduate without successfully completing all failed courses.

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with Article 40 of the Undergraduate and Associate Degree Education and Examination Regulation of our University, a student becomes eligible to receive an associate degree diploma from the relevant program if the student successfully completes all courses in the curriculum of the program in which they are enrolled, achieves a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00, and completes at least 120 ECTS credits.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of the Oral and Dental Health Program have the opportunity to transfer to undergraduate programs announced by ÖSYM through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Oral and Dental Health Program have employment opportunities in public and private healthcare institutions, such as Oral and Dental Health Centers and Oral and Dental Health Polyclinics.
