About the Program
Nursing is a profession that has been in great demand by society in recent years and offers employment opportunities in various fields. The language of instruction is Turkish, and the duration of education is 4 years (8 semesters). Students are admitted to the program based on their quantitative score type (SAY). The main aim of the undergraduate nursing program is to provide students with education within the framework of an up-to-date curriculum that includes the fundamental principles of the nursing profession. In addition, the program aims to train nurses who can put the knowledge they acquire throughout their education into practice, identify the needs of healthy or ill individuals, and provide high-quality care services in line with these needs.Students who graduate from the Department of Nursing may work, following graduation, as clinicians, educators, managers, coordinators, and also as academicians at universities, as well as in public and private inpatient treatment institutions, rehabilitation centers, healthcare institutions providing outpatient diagnostic and treatment services, nursing homes, schools, care and education centers established for special groups (such as children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities), workplace health units, home care service institutions, and emergency health services. Graduates of the undergraduate nursing program are awarded the title of “Nurse.”
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the program by making their preferences for the Department of Nursing within the scope of the university entrance examinations held annually by ÖSYM, based on the previous year’s minimum admission scores for the quantitative score type (SAY).Students to be admitted to the department are required to comply with Articles 38 and 87 of the Higher Education Programs Requirements and Explanations Guide. These articles are given below:Students enrolling in this program are required to wear the uniform determined by the department administration during hospital/clinical practice and school laboratory applications (Article 38).For enrollment in this program, students must obtain a medical board report, either recommended by the university and/or issued by a fully equipped official hospital, certifying that they do not have any physical or mental condition that would prevent them from practicing this profession during their education and thereafter (Article 87).
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to our faculty through central placement by ÖSYM, inter-institutional transfer from domestic and international institutions subject to academic achievement requirements, as well as inter-institutional and intra-institutional transfer based on central placement scores.Students admitted to our faculty may, prior to registration, request the transfer and recognition of courses they have successfully completed in the undergraduate or associate degree programs in which they were previously enrolled, provided that these courses correspond to the curriculum of our faculty. Such requests must be submitted through a written petition addressed to the Dean’s Office at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will commence their studies. The student must attach the original of an approved grade transcript to the petition. The transfer and recognition process is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Administrative Board of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the commissions assigned by it. Course contents and ECTS workload are taken into consideration in the recognition process.
Program Educational Objectives
1. Meets the health needs of individuals, families, and society in preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative areas through holistic, safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care. 2. Performs duties within the healthcare team through effective communication, collaboration, and a sense of professional responsibility. 3. Follows scientific developments and health technologies and reflects them in care with an awareness of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
Examinations consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are administered according to the schedule prepared and announced by our faculty. Students are required to present their student ID cards in order to take examinations. There is no resit examination system at our university; however, a summer school program is available.A midterm exam is an examination administered during the semester in which a course in the undergraduate curriculum of our faculty is offered. Each course includes at least one midterm exam per semester, or, at the discretion of the course instructor, assignments, projects, and similar coursework completed during the semester may be used in place of a midterm exam. A final exam, on the other hand, is an examination held at the end of the semester within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take final exams, students must fulfill the 70% attendance requirement for the course.The academic standing of our students is determined by calculating their grade point averages at the end of each semester. Beginning from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or above are considered successful, whereas those with a cumulative grade point average of 1.99 or below are regarded as academically insufficient. Students who fail a course in the program curriculum are required to retake that course in the first semester in which it is offered again. Even if all other graduation requirements have been fulfilled, a student cannot qualify for graduation until all failed courses have been successfully completed.

Graduation Requirements
Pursuant to Article 40 of our University’s Undergraduate and Associate Degree Education, Training, and Examination Regulations, a student becomes eligible to receive a bachelor’s degree diploma from the relevant program provided that they have successfully completed all courses included in the curriculum of the program in which they are enrolled, have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and have completed a minimum of 240 ECTS credits.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
After becoming entitled to receive a bachelor’s degree, graduates of the Department of Nursing may continue their postgraduate education if they wish to do so, provided that they meet the requirements determined by the relevant institute for admission to postgraduate programs, including the required grade point average, foreign language proficiency, ALES score, and other examination qualifications.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates may work as nurses, nurse educators, specialist nurses, or nurse managers in public and private healthcare institutions providing preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services, as well as in institutions such as schools, workplaces, nursing homes, and care homes. They may also serve as researchers and consultants in the pharmaceutical industry, insurance companies, and the medical treatment and care products sector. In institutions and organizations providing primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services, they may be employed as clinical nurses, educational nurses, or nurse managers. In addition, they may work in workplaces, schools, hotels, rehabilitation centers, and homes for older adults and individuals with disabilities. Graduates who continue with postgraduate education may also take positions in academic units.
