About the Program
The Department of Architecture at Antalya Bilim University began offering its undergraduate program in the 2013–2014 academic year. Design studios, which constitute the core of the program, enable students to learn architectural design processes through hands-on experience. These studios emphasize that architecture is not merely about designing and constructing buildings; rather, it is a discipline that aims to create sustainable and high-quality living environments through its multifaceted relationship with the environment, society, and users. The program aims to educate architects who can develop creative solutions to evolving architectural challenges, think critically, and contribute value to society.Within the Architecture Program, students undergo a comprehensive educational process that includes architectural design studios as well as courses in architectural history and theory, building science, building technologies, restoration, digital design tools, and the urban environment. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience, this educational model supports students in approaching design processes with both analytical and creative perspectives. The program also adopts a practice-oriented approach that encourages students to gain professional experience. In this context, students are supported in participating in national and international architectural competitions, and the awards previously received by our students demonstrate the success of this approach. In addition, students have the opportunity to become acquainted with professional practice at an early stage through internship opportunities and various academic activities. Our department provides an interdisciplinary academic environment with faculty members specializing in different areas of architecture. Our curriculum, which values contemporaneity and relevance within the contexts of technology, art, and culture, is regularly evaluated and updated in line with national and international developments in architectural education. With its young and dynamic structure, the Department of Architecture offers a supportive educational environment that closely follows and guides its students.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Admission to the Architecture program is based on the national university entrance examinations conducted annually by the Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM). Applicants are required to rank within the top 250,000 in the quantitative score type and submit their program preferences based on the minimum admission scores from the previous year.Students admitted to the program are required to comply with the regulations set forth in the Antalya Bilim University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to our department through centralized placement conducted by the Ölçme, Seçme ve Yerleştirme Merkezi (ÖSYM), inter-institutional horizontal transfer based on academic achievement from domestic and international institutions, intra-institutional horizontal transfer based on academic achievement, and inter-institutional and intra-institutional horizontal transfer based on central placement scores.Students admitted to our department may request the adaptation (recognition) of the courses they have successfully completed in the undergraduate or associate degree programs in which they were previously enrolled to the curriculum of our department before completing their registration. This request is made through a petition submitted to the Faculty Dean’s Office at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will start studying in the department, after completing the English preparatory school if required. The student making the request must attach the original certified transcript to the petition. The adaptation process is carried out by the administrative board of our faculty and the commissions assigned by it within the framework of the “Antalya Bilim University Directive on Course Exemption, Adaptation, and Equivalency for Associate and Undergraduate Programs.”For students who transfer to our university through domestic transfer systems, course contents and ECTS workload are taken into consideration in both intra-institutional and inter-institutional adaptation processes. For international transfer systems, in addition to the same principles, course and program equivalencies are evaluated separately according to the extent to which they are compatible with architectural education.
