About the Program
Master’s Program in Architecture is a specialized graduate program aimed at transferring theoretical and methodological knowledge—grounded in social, cultural, economic, environmental, and physical factors—into practice for shaping natural and built environments. Through this process, the program seeks to develop students’ technical and design competencies.The program encompasses a range of thematic areas including Urban Development and Regeneration, Conservation and Restoration, Innovation in Manufacturing and Construction, Computer-Aided Design, and Theory and Criticism, integrating both social and cultural perspectives. It aims to equip graduates with the ability to define original and emerging problems, understand and compare contemporary techniques and approaches, and adapt selected methods to problem-oriented contexts.The program outcomes can be summarized as providing knowledge and competence in the following areas: architectural and urban design processes, theories and methodologies; computational and digital design; architectural representation; building components; building materials; building physics; construction production and management; history and theory of architecture; conservation and restoration; environment and sustainability.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Graduates of Architecture bachelor’s programs from domestic and international institutions recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) are eligible to apply to the program. Applicants from closely related fields (such as Interior Architecture, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning) may be required, at the discretion of the Department Chair and based on suitability, to take up to one year of “Scientific Preparatory” courses. Fees for courses taken during the Scientific Preparatory period are not included in the tuition for the Master’s Program. The program has a student quota of 15. Both Turkish and international applicants who meet the admission requirements may apply.Admission Requirements:ALES: Minimum score of 55 in the Quantitative sectionUndergraduate GPA: Minimum 2.50 / 4.00Admission Ranking: 50% ALES + 50% Undergraduate GPAReference Letters: 2 lettersArchitectural Portfolio: Demonstrating the applicant’s previous workStatement of Purpose: Indicating the applicant’s research interests and goalsApplicants who are international students are also expected to either hold a TÖMER Turkish language proficiency certificate at a minimum C1 level or have completed their undergraduate education in Turkish.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Graduation from a four-year undergraduate program in Architecture or related fields (Interior Architecture, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning) is required.

Developing Scientific Research and Critical Thinking Skills:To educate individuals capable of employing scientific research methods in architecture, making independent decisions, thinking critically, and planning and conducting academic research.Enhancing Theoretical Knowledge and Interdisciplinary Approach:To train experts who can evaluate architectural theories within social, cultural, historical, and environmental contexts, and apply architectural knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary research and design projects.Promoting Sustainable Architectural and Urban Design Practices:To equip students with the ability to develop sustainable architectural and urban design approaches that holistically address physical environments, human needs, and cultural differences, while optimizing functional, aesthetic, and technical requirements.Cultivating Awareness of Cultural Heritage and Historical Environments:To educate professionals capable of documenting, conserving, repurposing, and restoring historical buildings and environments, and evaluating contemporary approaches while possessing scientific and technological knowledge for cultural heritage preservation.Developing Technological, Digital, and Professional Communication Competencies:To produce specialists proficient in architectural terminology, skilled in digital design and representation methods, and able to communicate architectural ideas and projects effectively through written, oral, and graphic means.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
During the coursework phase of the master’s program, students are required to complete all exams, assignments, projects, and practical tasks for each course; during the thesis phase, students must obtain a passing evaluation from the jury appointed by the institute and submit the thesis within the designated period.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate from the Master’s Program in Architecture, students must complete 60 ECTS credits of coursework in the first year and successfully defend their thesis before a jury by the end of the second year (with a maximum of three years allowed).
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Students who complete a thesis-based master’s program are eligible to apply for doctoral programs.
