About the Program
Health sciences aim to serve humanity continuously and under all possible conditions. The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Antalya Bilim University was established by a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated 11 November 2019 and admitted its first students in the 2020–2021 academic year.The Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, operating under the Faculty of Health Sciences at Antalya Bilim University, aims to educate physiotherapists who meet international standards within the framework of the 21st-century healthcare approach; who value creativity and individual development; who embrace lifelong learning and ethical behavior; who possess safe and competent clinical practice skills; and who are open to communication with cultures both in Türkiye and around the world.The language of instruction is Turkish, and the duration of the program is four years. Students are admitted to this undergraduate program based on their quantitative (SAY) score.Graduates of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation program may work in a wide range of settings after graduation, including hospitals, medical centers, disability rehabilitation centers, prosthetics and orthotics rehabilitation centers, industrial organizations, schools, amateur and professional sports clubs, national teams, nursing homes, vocational rehabilitation centers, thermal/spa centers, home care centers, R&D laboratories, universities, colleges, research institutes, and special education and rehabilitation centers. They may serve as educators, managers, or coordinators in these institutions, as well as pursue academic careers at universities.Graduates of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Undergraduate Program are awarded the professional title of “Physiotherapist.”
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the program through the national university entrance examination conducted annually by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates are accepted to the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation by making their preferences based on the quantitative (SAY) score type, taking into account the minimum base scores from the previous year.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to the faculty through the central placement conducted by the Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), as well as through inter-institutional transfers within Türkiye and from abroad based on academic success, transfers based on central placement scores between institutions, and internal transfers within the university.Students admitted to the faculty may request the recognition and transfer of courses they have successfully completed in previously enrolled undergraduate or associate degree programs before completing their registration. This request must be submitted through a petition addressed to the Faculty Dean’s Office at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will start their studies. The student must attach the original approved transcript document to the petition.The course transfer (adaptation) process is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Faculty of Health Sciences Administrative Board and the commissions appointed by the board. During the evaluation process, course contents and ECTS workloads are taken into consideration.
Program Educational Objectives
To ensure the development of physiotherapists equipped with up-to-date knowledge, skills, and competencies in the assessment, prevention, and treatment of movement and functional disorders; to equip graduates who effectively apply evidence-based physiotherapy and rehabilitation practices in their professional practice with the aim of improving individuals’ health-related quality of life; to support the development of professionals who embrace a research culture, think innovatively, pursue lifelong learning, and integrate scientific advancements into their professional practice; to contribute to the development of physiotherapists who adhere to professional ethical principles, adopt a quality assurance perspective, and are able to plan and manage healthcare service processes; to foster individuals who can actively participate in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teamwork in healthcare services and contribute to the promotion of public health; and to prepare graduates who produce scientific knowledge through an education- and research-oriented approach, possess professional autonomy, and contribute to the advancement of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation field at national and international levels.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
Examinations at our university consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are conducted according to the schedule prepared and announced by the faculty. Students are required to present their student ID cards in order to take the exams. The university does not implement a resit (make-up) examination system; however, a summer school program is available.A midterm exam is an examination conducted during the semester in which the course is offered within the faculty’s undergraduate curriculum. At least one midterm exam is held for each course in a semester. Alternatively, assignments, projects, or similar coursework carried out during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be used in place of a midterm exam.The final exam is administered at the end of the semester in which the course is taught, within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students must fulfill the 70% attendance requirement for the course. Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, students must successfully complete courses totaling at least 240 ECTS credits that meet the program qualifications and achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree, graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation may pursue postgraduate education. In order to apply to relevant graduate programs, they must meet the requirements specified by the relevant institute, including the required grade point average, foreign language proficiency, ALES score, and other examination criteria.
