About the Program
The language of the program is Turkish. The duration of the program is 2 (two) years. Students are required to complete the program within a maximum of 4 (four) years starting from the semester in which the courses of the program are first offered, regardless of whether they register for each semester or not. The Head of the Program is Dr. Bekir KABASAKAL.The Dialysis Program was established within the Vocational School of Health Services and started admitting students in the 2020–2021 academic year. The aim of the program is to train competent dialysis technicians who can work in dialysis units, possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills, adhere to ethical values, and are qualified in the field of healthcare services. Within the scope of the program, students are provided with courses related to basic medical sciences, dialysis technology, patient care, and infection control. In addition, practical training and clinical internship opportunities are offered to enable students to gain professional experience.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the Dialysis Program through the university entrance examinations conducted annually by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Admission is based on the TYT (Basic Proficiency Test) score type, and candidates are placed in the program by making their preferences according to the base scores of the previous year.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to the Dialysis Program through central placement conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), as well as through inter-institutional transfers from domestic and international higher education institutions based on academic success, inter-institutional and intra-institutional transfers based on central placement scores, and other transfer mechanisms determined by the relevant regulations.Students admitted to the Dialysis Program may request the recognition and transfer (adaptation) of courses they have successfully completed in their previously enrolled undergraduate or associate degree programs before completing their registration. This request must be submitted through a petition addressed to the Vocational School of Health Services at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will start their education.Students making such a request are required to attach the original approved transcript indicating the courses they have successfully completed. The adaptation process is carried out within the framework of the principles determined by the Board of the Vocational School of Health Services and the commissions appointed by the Board. During the adaptation process, course contents and ECTS workload are taken into consideration.
Program Educational Objectives
To train qualified dialysis technicians who have fundamental medical knowledge about kidney failure and dialysis treatment and who can work in dialysis units.To educate healthcare personnel who possess the technical knowledge and skills required to set up, operate, maintain, and control hemodialysis devices.To train healthcare technicians who are competent in patient care during the dialysis treatment process and who are knowledgeable about patient safety and infection control.To educate individuals who adhere to ethical principles in healthcare services, respect patient rights, can work effectively in teams, and have a strong sense of professional responsibility.To train graduates who can follow technological developments in the healthcare sector, adopt lifelong learning, and continuously improve their professional competencies.To educate healthcare technicians who can communicate effectively in healthcare institutions, possess problem-solving skills, and perform their professional duties in accordance with quality and safety standards.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
Examinations at our university consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are conducted according to the schedule prepared and announced by the Vocational School of Health Services. Students are required to present their student ID cards in order to take the examinations. There is no resit (make-up) exam system at our university; however, a summer school program is available.The midterm exam is conducted during the semester in which the course is offered within the associate degree curriculum of the Vocational School of Health Services. At least one midterm exam is administered for each course in a semester. Alternatively, assignments, projects, and similar coursework carried out during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be used in place of a midterm exam. The final exam is conducted at the end of the semester in which the course is taught, within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students must fulfill the 70% attendance requirement for the course. Graduation Requirements
According to Article 40 of the University’s Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, a student is entitled to receive an associate degree diploma from the relevant program provided that the student successfully completes all courses included in the curriculum of the registered program, achieves a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00, and completes at least 120 ECTS credits.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of the Dialysis Program have the opportunity to transfer to undergraduate programs announced by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Dialysis Program have employment opportunities in dialysis centers within public and private healthcare institutions.
