About the Program
The Anesthesia Program, established within the Vocational School of Health Services, has been admitting students since the 2019–2020 academic year. Our program graduated its first students in 2021.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the Anesthesia Program through the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score type within the university entrance examinations organized annually by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), based on the previous year’s base scores and student preferences. Students are also admitted to the program through central placement by ÖSYM, inter-institutional transfers from domestic and international institutions based on academic achievement, as well as inter- and intra-institutional transfers based on central placement scores.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students admitted to the Anesthesia Program may request the recognition and transfer of courses they have successfully completed in their previously enrolled undergraduate or associate degree programs before completing their registration. This request must be submitted at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will start their education, through a written petition addressed to the Vocational School of Health Services. The student must attach the original approved transcript to the petition. The course transfer (adaptation) process is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Board of the Vocational School of Health Services and the commissions assigned by the board. During this process, course contents and ECTS workloads are taken into consideration.
Program Educational Objectives
The aim of the program is to train qualified health technicians who can contribute to the safe implementation of anesthesia practices in operating rooms and other interventional medical units.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
At our university, examinations consist of midterm exams, final exams, make-up exams, exemption exams, additional exams, and single-course exams. Examinations are conducted according to the schedule prepared and announced by the Vocational School of Health Services. Students are required to present their student identification cards in order to take the exams. Our university does not implement a resit (make-up final) examination system; however, a summer school program is available.The midterm exam is conducted during the semester in which the course is offered within the associate degree curriculum of the Vocational School of Health Services. Each course has at least one midterm exam per semester. Assignments, projects, and similar coursework conducted during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be evaluated in place of a midterm exam. The final exam is administered at the end of the semester within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take the final exam, students must fulfill a minimum attendance requirement of 70% for the course. The grade ranges required for students to be considered successful in a course are shown in the relevant grading table.The academic performance of our students is determined by calculating their Grade Point Average at the end of each semester. Beginning from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or above are considered academically successful, while those with a GPA of 1.99 or below are considered academically unsuccessful. Students who fail a course in the program curriculum are required to retake that course in the first semester in which it is offered again. Even if all other graduation requirements are fulfilled, students cannot graduate until they successfully complete all failed courses.

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with Article 40 of the Undergraduate and Associate Degree Education and Examination Regulations of our University, a student becomes eligible to receive an associate degree diploma if they successfully complete all courses in the curriculum of their enrolled program, achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 out of 4.00, and complete at least 120 ECTS credits.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of the Anesthesia Program also have the opportunity to transfer to related bachelor’s degree programs announced by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Anesthesia Program have employment opportunities in all types of healthcare institutions where surgical procedures are performed, such as public hospitals, private hospitals, maternity hospitals, university hospitals, and private clinics.
