About the Program
The Operating Room Services Program, established within the Vocational School of Health Services, has been admitting students since the 2020–2021 academic year.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Students are admitted to the Operating Room Services Program through the national university entrance examinations administered annually by ÖSYM, by making their preferences based on the base scores from the previous year within the TYT score category.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students are admitted to the Operating Room Services Program through the centralized placement system conducted by ÖSYM, inter-institutional transfer based on academic achievement, inter- and intra-institutional transfer based on central placement scores, as well as transfers between domestic and international higher education institutions.Students admitted to the Operating Room Services Program may request the recognition and transfer of courses they have successfully completed in their previously enrolled associate or undergraduate programs prior to their registration. Such requests must be submitted through a written petition to the Vocational School of Health Services at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will commence their studies. The student must attach the original of an officially approved transcript to the petition.The course recognition (adaptation) process is carried out in accordance with the principles determined by the Board of the Vocational School of Health Services and the commissions appointed by it. Program Educational Objectives
The mission of this program is to educate qualified Operating Room Services technicians who are capable of preparing all surgical instruments and materials used in the operating room, ensuring their proper use during surgical procedures, actively participating in all surgical teams, and assisting surgeons during operations.The vision of this program is to train competent technical professionals who are preferred in both the public and private sectors and who adhere to professional and ethical principles in their field.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
Examinations at our university consist of midterm examinations, final examinations, make-up examinations, exemption examinations, additional examinations, and single-course examinations. All examinations are conducted in accordance with the schedule prepared and announced by the Vocational School of Health Services. Students are required to present their student identification cards in order to sit for examinations. There is no resit (make-up for failed courses) examination system at our university; however, a summer school program is available.The midterm examination is administered during the semester in which the course is offered within the associate degree curriculum of the Vocational School of Health Services. Each course includes at least one midterm examination per semester. Assignments, projects, or similar coursework conducted during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be used in place of a midterm examination.The final examination is administered at the end of the semester in which the course is offered, within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take the final examination, students are required to fulfill a minimum attendance requirement of 70% for the course. The academic performance of our students is determined at the end of each semester by calculating their grade point averages. Beginning from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 or above are considered academically successful, whereas students with a CGPA of 1.99 or below are regarded as academically insufficient.Students who fail a course included in the program curriculum are required to retake the course in the first semester in which it is offered again. Even if all other graduation requirements are fulfilled, students cannot qualify for graduation until they successfully complete all previously failed courses.

Graduation Requirements
In accordance with Article 40 of the University’s Regulation on Associate and Undergraduate Education, Teaching, and Examinations, a student is entitled to receive an associate degree diploma from the relevant program provided that they successfully complete all courses included in the curriculum of the program in which they are enrolled, achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and complete a minimum of 120 ECTS credits.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of the Operating Room Services Program have the opportunity to transition to undergraduate programs announced by ÖSYM through the vertical transfer examination (DGS).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Operating Room Services Program have employment opportunities in various healthcare institutions where surgical procedures are performed, including public hospitals, private hospitals, university hospitals, private clinics, and maternity hospitals.
