About the Program
The purpose of the Undergraduate Law Programme is to provide students with a solid foundation in the fundamental concepts, principles, institutions, and rules of law; to develop their skills in legal reasoning, interpretation, analysis, and problem-solving; and to educate competent legal professionals who are able to evaluate legal disputes within the framework of legislation, judicial decisions, and doctrinal opinions. The programme aims to graduate individuals who embrace the principles of human rights, the rule of law, justice, equality, and ethical responsibility; who are able to follow developments in national and international law; who are sensitive to social needs, capable of critical thinking, effective communication, and able to apply their legal knowledge and skills in diverse professional fields.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Admission to the Undergraduate Law Programme is carried out in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Türkiye and the principles determined by the Council of Higher Education and the Student Selection and Placement Center. Admission to the programme is based on the candidate’s achievement of the required score type in the Higher Education Institutions Examination and placement in the programme through the central placement system.Registration procedures are conducted in accordance with the academic calendar and the procedures and principles announced for the relevant academic year. In order to be eligible for final registration, candidates must hold a high school diploma or an equivalent secondary education qualification and fulfill the other requirements stipulated by the relevant legislation.Students may also be admitted to the programme through horizontal transfer, vertical transfer, inter-institutional and intra-institutional transfer, double major, minor, and international student admission, in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation. In such cases, the decisions of the Council of Higher Education, the applicable legislation, and the procedures and principles determined by the University Senate shall apply.For students admitted from abroad or from equivalent institutions, diplomas and qualification documents recognized by the competent authorities, as well as any additional requirements set by the university, shall be taken into consideration. Recognition of prior learning, exemption, and adjustment procedures are evaluated in accordance with the relevant legislation and university regulations.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Admission to the Faculty of Law is carried out through the central placement system administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center, inter-institutional horizontal transfer from domestic and international higher education institutions subject to academic achievement requirements, intra-institutional and inter-institutional horizontal transfer based on central placement scores, and vertical transfer procedures.Students admitted to the programme may request that the courses successfully completed in their previous associate or undergraduate degree programmes be recognized and transferred to the courses included in the curriculum of the Faculty of Law. Such requests are required to be submitted through a petition addressed to the Dean’s Office at the beginning of the academic year in which the student will commence his or her studies. The original of the approved transcript, and where deemed necessary, course descriptions, are required to be attached to the application.Exemption and transfer procedures are carried out in accordance with the principles and procedures determined by the Faculty Board and the relevant commissions. In the evaluation process, course content, credit value, ECTS workload, and programme qualifications are taken into consideration.In applications submitted from higher education institutions abroad, the same principles are applied; however, course and programme equivalence, as well as the nature of legal education, are subject to separate evaluation. In particular, with regard to the recognition of courses taken in programmes outside faculties of law, the possible legal knowledge acquired during previous studies, the nature of the course, and its compatibility with the law programme are also taken into account.
Program Educational Objectives
The educational objectives of the Undergraduate Law Programme are to provide students with a solid foundation in the fundamental principles, institutions, and rules of law; to develop their skills in legal reasoning, interpretation, analysis, and problem-solving; and to educate legal professionals who are able to evaluate legislation, case law, and doctrine in an integrated manner. The programme also aims to ensure that students embrace the principles of human rights, the rule of law, justice, equality, and ethical responsibility; follow developments in national and international law; and effectively apply their legal knowledge and skills in diverse professional fields.
Exams, Assessment and Evaluation
In this programme, examinations consist of midterm examinations, final examinations, make-up examinations, exemption examinations, additional examinations, and single-course examinations. Examinations are administered in accordance with the schedule prepared and announced by the Faculty. Presentation of student identity cards is compulsory in order to take examinations. There is no resit examination system at the University; however, a summer school programme is available.A midterm examination is an examination administered during the semester in which a course included in the undergraduate curriculum of the Faculty is offered. At least one midterm examination is held for each course in a semester. Alternatively, assignments, projects, and similar coursework carried out during the semester may, at the discretion of the course instructor, be used in place of a midterm examination. A final examination is the examination administered at the end of the semester in which the course is offered, within the dates specified in the academic calendar. In order to be eligible to take final examinations, students are required to fulfill the 70% attendance requirement. The grade ranges determining whether students are considered successful in a course are set out below.For students who are subject to the Directive on Course Registration and Course Achievement Criteria for the Undergraduate Programme of the Faculty and who enrolled in the Faculty of Law for the first time as of the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 academic year, a minimum grade of D+ is required in order to pass a course.The academic standing of students is determined at the end of each semester by calculating their grade point averages. Starting from the end of the second semester, students with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or above are considered successful, whereas students with a cumulative grade point average of 1.99 or below are considered academically insufficient. Students who fail a course included in the programme curriculum are required to retake that course in the first semester in which it is offered again. Even if all other graduation requirements have been fulfilled, students who have not successfully completed their failed courses shall not be entitled to graduate.

Graduation Requirements
Pursuant to Article 40 of the University’s Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation, a student shall be awarded a bachelor’s degree diploma provided that all courses included in the curriculum of the registered programme have been successfully completed, the cumulative grade point average is at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and a minimum total of 240 ECTS credits prescribed for the programme has been completed.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of this programme may apply to postgraduate programmes in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation. Provided that the admission requirements are fulfilled, graduates may continue their studies at the master’s and doctoral levels in the field of law or in related disciplines.Admission to postgraduate programmes is carried out in accordance with the decisions of the Council of Higher Education, the provisions of the relevant legislation, and the application and admission requirements determined by higher education institutions. In the admission process, academic achievement, foreign language proficiency, ALES score, and other specific requirements determined by the relevant higher education institutions may be taken into consideration.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Faculty of Law are equipped, through the theoretical knowledge, analytical thinking, legal interpretation, and problem-solving skills acquired during their legal education, to pursue classical legal professions such as attorneyship, judgeship, public prosecution, notarial practice, and mediation. The practice of these professions is subject to the fulfillment of the specific conditions prescribed by the relevant legislation.In addition, graduates may serve in public institutions and organizations in positions such as legal counsel, staff attorney, assistant specialist, and legal specialist, and, upon successful completion of the required examinations and application procedures, may also pursue public service positions such as district governorship and similar offices. Beyond the public sector, employment opportunities are also available in the private sector in areas such as company law, contract law, labour law, compliance and ethics management, personal data protection, corporate governance, risk management, internal audit, arbitration, dispute resolution, and legal and consultancy services in regulated sectors.In line with the changing professional needs of the contemporary world, graduates of the Faculty of Law are trained not only for traditional legal professions, but also for interdisciplinary and emerging fields such as technology law, information technology law, intellectual property law, international trade, human rights, alternative dispute resolution, data protection, and contract and compliance management. In this respect, the programme aims to ensure that graduates are able to use their legal knowledge and skills effectively in both the public and private sectors, and in both national and international working environments.
